Co-Reform Grant - 97-00
The East Central Georgia P-16 Council is one of fifteen regional councils under the Georgia Pre-School-Post Secondary Education Initiative. Through this initiative school systems, technical institutes, colleges and universities, the private sector, and community organizations work together on behalf of Georgia students.

P stands for pre-school; 16 stands for grade 16, and represents completion of post-secondary education.

The three main elements of the Georgia P-16 Initiative are (1) programs for students in at-risk situations (PREP); (2) the development of P-16 seamless education; and (3) the co-reform of schools and teacher education.

The ECG P-16 Council has focused its efforts on the co-reform of schools and teacher education. A three-year grant was received in July 1997, and matching funds from Council members have supported a variety of co-reform activities.

The Council works to promote and recommend changes necessary in public educational systems to improve student success. P-16 is not a governance structure, and state and local recommendations have no authority in policy or law.
